The Environment & Sustainability (E&S) Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement in environmental performance, advancing sustainability initiatives, and reducing environmental risk. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and alignment with corporate standards and sustainability goals. Key Responsibilities:
Foster a proactive, compliance-focused EHS culture by building strong relationships across departments and encouraging leadership and employee engagement.
Manage environmental data, metrics, permits, and regulatory documentation. Prepare and communicate E&S performance reports for internal stakeholders, global leadership, and regulatory agencies.
Lead projects focused on improving environmental KPIs (energy, water, waste), enhancing regulatory compliance, and supporting corporate sustainability objectives.
Ensure all E&S programs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, corporate standards, and industry best practices.
Drive environmental compliance and risk mitigation through robust programs, audits, employee training, and leadership participation.
Maintain all site-related environmental permits, licenses, and certificates to support operational continuity.
Contribute to the development and execution of the E&S budget, identifying opportunities for cost-effective environmental performance improvements.
Represent the company during regulatory audits and site visits conducted by authorities and customers.
Conduct formal, systematic reviews of operations for compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., CAA, CWA, RCRA, TSCA, SARA) and internal company policies. Develop and execute action plans to address findings.
Engage with regulatory bodies and third-party auditors for inspections, compliance reviews, and periodic reporting.
Monitor and interpret changes in environmental regulations to maintain ongoing compliance.
Ensure alignment of site-level environmental programs with broader business unit, segment, and enterprise-level sustainability strategies.
Provide regular reports on compliance status, corrective action progress, audit results, and related costs to plant leadership and EHS&S directors.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field required.
Minimum of 8 years of EHS experience in a heavy manufacturing environment with substantial regulatory oversight.
CHMM or CPEA certification preferred.
ISO 14001 implementation experience strongly preferred.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
Proven expertise in hazardous waste management, stormwater and wastewater compliance, air permitting, chemical management, EPCRA reporting, SPCC planning, and emergency response coordination.
Demonstrated success in achieving Scope 1, 2, and 3 sustainability targets.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
Ability to manage competing priorities, make data-driven and risk-based decisions, and adapt quickly in dynamic environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and environmental reporting platforms.
Experience implementing comprehensive EHS management systems in a manufacturing setting.
