Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer Machinist to operate manual and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools, such as lathes and milling machines, to cut and produce precision parts for machines, instruments and tools.

A CNC Programmer is responsible for understanding technical blueprints, entering design details into machines, setting up cutting paths and checking the final product for quality. They may also handle basic machine maintenance and fix any problems that come up during production.

To be successful in this role, you need strong manufacturing experience, attention to detail and the ability to work independently. A great CNC programmer works efficiently and makes sure every product meets the required specifications.

 Location: Onsite, Richards Manufacturing Facility (Irvington, NJ) 

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programming, program selection and program editing on CNC multi-axis turning centers.

  • Interpret engineering drawings to manufacture parts.
  • Ability to make correct tool selection for parts manufacture.
  • Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.
  • Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
  • Monitor machine while working to make any necessary adjustments.
  • Determine and program size of batches and speed of the machine.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.

Qualifications

  • Required: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

  • Preferred: Mechanical Technology Degree

Minimum Previous Experience

  • Proficiency with heavy machinery including lathe, drill press, grinding wheel, chop saw, and mill

  • Ability to sequence or edit programs on lathe and CNC
  • Read measuring tape, gauges, and calipers
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 40 lbs
