Job Description

The job “Medium Voltage Production Engineer” involves enhancing the performance, reliability, and safety of critical components used in electrical distribution systems. The Medium Voltage Production Engineer works on products such as dead-break elbows, arc proof boots, disconnectable joints and other medium voltage kits. The Medium Voltage Production Engineer refines design specifications and invents safer and more reliable mechanisms to improve installations and operations.

 

Projects vary in complexity and duration, encompassing both the design of new medium voltage accessories and the improvement of existing products. Each new product undergoes rigorous testing, evaluation, and qualification to ensure it meets industry standards. To effectively navigate each stage of this process, the product development engineer also designs new tools, such as dimensional gauges and special fixtures, which are essential for precise measurement and testing.

 Location: Onsite, Richards Manufacturing Facility (Irvington, NJ) 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining all current product CAD data until the product is pre-approved (e.g., product and tooling) (i.e., drawings, models, instruction sheets, cut sheets, production fixtures if required).
  • Determining design parameters for each functional requirement.
  • Interfacing with electrical testing to coordinate any required design testing.
  • Conducting other required design testing (functional) and record results per ISO procedures
  • Ensuring the product design meets the outlined design parameters and functional requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Electrical engineering, Electronic engineering, Mechanical engineering or a closely related academic field
  • Twenty-four (24) months’ experience as a Production Engineer and/or in Manufacturing and Product Development.
  • Travel Requirement: Occasional. Meet with clients one to two times a quarter for one to two days. Requires overnight stay.
