Electrical Engineer – High-Voltage Test Laboratory

We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to support our High-Voltage Electrical Testing Laboratory. This role focuses on maintaining and improving production test systems, ensuring safe and reliable high-voltage testing, and developing more efficient testing processes. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with equipment, troubleshooting controls and wiring, and continuously improving lab operations.
Location: Onsite, Richards Manufacturing Facility (Irvington, NJ)
Key Responsibilities:
Test Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
Maintain, monitor, and ensure proper operation of electrical and PLC-controlled test equipment
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, control, and instrumentation systems
Perform calibration of test equipment
Manage inventory and component listings to support equipment maintenance and uptime
High-Voltage Testing Support
Support and oversee high-voltage testing of production components
Execute tests and generate reports in accordance with industry standards
Analyze test data and document results
Perform additional or non-standard testing as required
Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and update procedures/instructions for testing personnel
Process Improvement & System Development
Improve testing processes and procedures for reliability, quality, and efficiency
Design new fixtures, tools, and electrical schematics (wiring diagrams)
Install electrical wiring, instruments, and new test equipment
Configure and modify PLCs to support process or system changes
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve issues and optimize performance
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Hands-on experience with electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and diagnosing power and control circuits
PLC programming and controls experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High-voltage testing or equipment experience preferred, but not required
Knowledge of electrical safety standards and best practices
