The successful candidate will provide an EHS presence on the manufacturing shop floor and play an important role driving continuous improvement in Environment, Health, Safety (EHS) performance and risk reduction. This role will interact with a wide variety of shop personnel and operations to ensure a compliant and safe workplace for all employees, visitors, and contractors. This individual contributor role is part of the site EHS Team and reports to the site Senior EHS Manager. This is an exciting role with an opportunity to make an immediate impact.
Job Responsibilities
· Build relationships across the campus to promote continuous EHS improvement, employee & leadership engagement, and a proactive compliance & risk-focused EHS culture. Role requires spending significant time on the shop floor.
· Participate in or lead EHS Genba Walks & area inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors.
· Ensure conformance to company EHS procedures such as PPE, LOTO, Safe Work Permits, Waste Management, & Contractor Safety.
· Complete environmental, health, safety, & fire protection related area and equipment inspections, audits, & self-assessments.
· Implement corrective measures and track deficiencies to closure.
· Promote Environmental Health and Safety awareness to employees through various activities.
· Lead and participate in EHS-related problem-solving teams and EHS committees.
· Deliver EHS-related employee training.
· Evaluate PPE requirements, audit PPE conformance, evaluate new PPE, order & deliver PPE and EHS-related supplies to end users.
· Responsibly use STOP WORK authority to correct or stop any operation that may put human health and safety at unacceptable risk and/or have an uncontrolled impact on the environment.
· Assist in the proper management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste accumulation, storage, & shipment (including operation of powered industrial vehicles).
· Respond to employee EHS-related concerns and track corrective actions to closure.
· Lead or participate in injury and event investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
· Lead or participate in safety meetings, safety committees, and shift-specific safety coordination activities.
· Respond to facility emergencies and facilitate shelter in place, evacuation, and other emergency procedures in the plant.
· Maintain accurate EHS records, inspection logs, training documentation, injury records, and EHS metrics; assist in preparing reports for leadership and regulatory compliance.
· Lead projects to reduce EHS risk and improve EHS culture.
· Any other duties as determined or assigned by the site EHS Manager.
Required Qualifications
· Previous EHS experience required.
· 3+ years of manufacturing shop floor experience required.
· High School Degree or GED required.
· Fluent in English & Spanish or English & Ukrainian required.
· NJ driver’s license required.
· Computer skills, including proficiency in using common word processing software, excel, database applications, presentation software and email required.
· Ability to obtain forklift license and operate forklift required.
· Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills required.
· Ability to balance multiple competing priorities, make risk-based decisions, & pivot quickly when priorities shift required.
· Ability to communicate effectively through email, instant messaging, and verbal methods required.
· Ability to work individually, with and without daily direction, and in a team environment required.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous forklift experience preferred but not required.
· OSHA 30 Hour certification preferred but not required.
· Previous EHS training experience preferred but not required.
