Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Test Lab Manager to supervise a team of test engineers and lab technicians responsible for testing low voltage and medium voltage cable accessories and related components. This role is crucial for ensuring that products meet industry standards and customer requirements through thorough testing, analysis, and reporting. The Test Lab Manager will oversee all aspects of the testing process, from product qualification and R&D testing to root cause analysis and test equipment management.

Location: Onsite (Irvington, NJ) 

Hours: 8-10Hr Day shift (Monday-Friday & weekends as needed)

Key Responsibilities:

• Product Qualification Testing: Plan and execute product qualification testing requested by engineering, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.
• Internal R&D Testing: Plan and execute internal research and development (R&D) testing to support engineering’s innovation and product improvement efforts.
• Test Area Scheduling: Manage the test area schedule, coordinating with engineering and sales teams to prioritize and allocate resources for testing.
• Root Cause Analysis: Lead root cause analysis and prepare detailed product failure analysis reports to support product improvements and quality control.
• Test Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and operation of all electrical test equipment, including production electrical test cells, ensuring they are fully operational and compliant with quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required (focus in Power Engineering preferred).
• Laboratory experience testing products and/or equipment used in the power industry (Transmission or Distribution).
• Experience developing test plans based on industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
• Proven ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documents and reports.
• Management experience is preferred, with the ability to lead and develop a team of engineers and technicians.
• Familiarity with the Quality Management Systems.
• Awareness of ISO 9001:2015 standards and their application in a test lab environment.
• Strong statistical and data analysis skills to interpret test results and make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Proven leadership abilities to manage a diverse team effectively.
